Lights
Light has been a part of ANTI festival’s programme every year, whether as video or light installations projected onto building walls, or as bonfires, lanterns, and headlamps. The darkness of autumn evenings in the city provides the artists with many opportunities to make use of both natural and artificial lighting systems as a part of their work. In addition to the festival’s physical surroundings, the interplay between light and dark can also be seen in the topics of the artworks and in the varied emotions they inspire. Death, time, children and youth, and games and play have all been highlighted as official festival themes in different years, bringing about different approaches to creating art experiences. On one hand, these themes have inspired exploration of ideas through light and celebration, on the other, through darkness and silence.
