ANTI - Contemporary Art Festival turns 20

ANTIVERSARY 20 exhibition celebrates the 20-year long history of ANTI Festival and also highlights the role of high-quality documentation in the preservation and appreciation of live art.  Since 2002 the festival has spread across the cityscape and brought forth multidisciplinary artists whose works have provided the audience  with new ways of experiencing art as a part of their everyday surroundings.

The works of photographer Pekka Mäkinen and videographer Kim Saarinen give a window into these meaningful and often surprising  encounters between different audiences, environments, and art forms. The exhibition tells not only of the story of one festival but also of  the evolution of contemporary art, and the diversifying of its audiences. Mäkinen has photographed the festival throughout its entire history and Saarinen has been in charge of its video documentation since 2011.

In addition to the online exhibition the work of Mäkinen and Saarinen can also be viewed at Kantti.
